Eugénie Nightgown from Citronille and Shetland Flannel

Our newest shop sample is the adorable Eugénie Nightgown from Citronille! Katy made it using Robert Kaufman’s Shetland Flannel, Herringbone weave, in Peach. The pattern is for children, sizes 2 through 12 years.

Made in flannel, this nightgown will be cuddly, soft and warm, perfect for the cooler evenings and winter months. Other lighter weight fabric options might be cotton, poplin, or gingham – making this a year-round pattern.

Some of the sewing skills to make this pattern are setting sleeves and sewing ruffles. The pattern calls for 3 buttons for the back, but Katy used set in snaps from Snap Source instead and those worked well! We can’t say enough about this great tool, it’s quick, easy and they hold well!

Katy said that if she was making another, she might leave off the sleeve ruffle. It is super cute, but the extra fabric could be a bit cumbersome for a sleeping child. The ruffle could just be left out, and the sleeve hemmed where it is, or the sleeve could be lengthened a bit.

Eugénie is styled as a ¾ sleeve nightgown, but it could be worn as a day dress with the appropriate fabric, and possibly without the sleeve ruffles.
