Have you ever wondered what to do with your fabric scraps? In this fun and beginner-friendly class, Annie will guide you through the basics of foundation paper piecing—a versatile quilting technique that turns small pieces of fabric into beautiful designs.
You’ll start with a simple pine tree block to learn the method, then move on to creating a maple leaf, heart, or a larger pine tree. Each block will be perfectly sized to fit into Carol Doak’s Keepsake Framed Cards, making them ideal for personalized holiday greeting cards or thoughtful handmade gifts.
Supplies and Materials to Bring:

Fabric scraps from your stash (a mix of greens, reds, and fall colors suggested)

Small rotary cutter (18mm or 28mm suggested, cutting mats will be provided)

An Add an Eighth Plus or Add a Quarter Plus ruler

One package of six Carol Doak’s Keepsake Frame cards

Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue

Your own sewing machine with medium grey thread (staff members will be happy to carry your machine up to the classroom, and we do have a limited number of classroom machines available—just let us know)

About the Instructor: Annie Chavez is a self-taught quilter with over 35 years of experience. She made her first quilt for her son, Matthew, and has since created countless quilts and samples, many of which have been displayed in the shop and at the state quilt show. Annie is also a valued member of the Fiddlehead Artisan Supply team and loves sharing her knowledge with beginners.
