The versatile Lichen Duster can be worn as a lightweight coat, wrap dress, or robe – a true capsule wardrobe workhorse! Its shawl collar, princess seams, unique pockets, four skirt gores and hand-stitched facings make it a beautiful heirloom piece.

Style the Lichen Duster over dresses and jumpsuits, or jeans and tees. Use your own belt or wrap the included fabric belt around your waist, tucking in the ends, for a chic morning-to-evening dress. The Lichen can be made with a sweeping high-low hem or a straight hem.

The pattern includes sizes 0-30.

Fabric and materials recommendations: Depending on the fabric you choose, the Lichen Duster can be worn in cold or warm weather. It is unlined, constructed with front and back facings of the same fabric. We recommend mid-weight linen or yarn-dyed cotton for all-season wear. More advanced sewists can branch out and choose mid-weight wool or even silk or silk velvet.

This sweater is a grown up version of the classic hoodie. It will be a wardrobe staple due to its cozy boxy shape and hard wearing cuffed hems but there is no worry of looking like a slob while wearing it!

Both versions contain stylish features that elevate it beyond pure utilitarianism: Variation 1 features a unique squared neckline and a stylish shawl collar. It also includes an optional neckline facing that can be used to feature contrast fabrics as a finishing touch to the garment interior. Variation 2 includes a roomy lined hood that crosses over at the front to join to the squared neckline as well as the classic kangaroo pocket to protect hands from the elements.

Flattering princess seams feature a clever in-seam pocket, while the modern drop sleeves make for a relaxed yet stylish look.

The Coat sewing pattern is incredibly versatile, working well in a range of fabrics from mid-to-heavy weight coating material to lighter woven fabrics – great for an alternative spring trench-coat.

The three quarter length hem is perfect over dresses or trousers, offering both elegance and warmth on a chilly day.

Other features include a notched collar, 2 button front closure, kick pleat and buggy lining (fully faced).
