Spring Foundation Paper Piecing with Annie Chavez - Sunday, March 29, 10:30 to 1:30
In this fun and beginner-friendly class, Annie will guide you through the basics of foundation paper piecing—a versatile quilting technique that turns small pieces of fabric into beautiful designs—to make a lovely, hand-made spring card.
Supplies and Materials to Bring:
- Fabric scraps from your stash (a mix of greens, purples, yellows, light blues, oranges or any preferred spring colors)
- Small rotary cutter (18mm or 28mm suggested, cutting mats will be provided)
- An Add an Eighth Plus or Add a Quarter Plus ruler
- One package of six Carol Doak’s Keepsake Frame cards
- Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue
- Your own sewing machine with medium grey thread (staff members will be happy to carry your machine up to the classroom, and we do have a limited number of classroom machines available—just let us know)
- Book: 50 Little Paper-Pieced Blocks by Carol Doak (C&T Publishing)
Experience Level: Beginner sewer/quilter with basic, working knowledge of their sewing machine
Location: Our classroom space is on the second floor of our building. Please let us know if we can help you carry up your things.
About the Instructor: Annie Chavez is a self-taught quilter with over 35 years of experience. She made her first quilt for her son, Matthew, and has since created countless quilts and samples, many of which have been displayed in the shop and at the state quilt show. Annie is also a valued member of the Fiddlehead Artisan Supply team and loves sharing her knowledge with beginners.
