A mindful and tactile journey in fiber art with Sharon Chandler Correnty of Marigold

Friday, April 18, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, in the Fiddlehead Classroom

Join us for a peaceful and creative exploration of single-needle felting, a meditative process that fosters both artistry and calm. This workshop begins with a dive into your artistic vision – please bring a photo, magazine cut-out, or other art sample that inspires you. Sharon will discuss color, shape, and texture – the design elements that are the focus throughout this project.

Using raw, natural wool, you will create a fat-quarter (or similar) sized tapestry that reflects the beauty of your inspiration. Through hands-on instruction, you’ll learn essential felting techniques while making artistic choices that feel authentic to you. Sharon provides personalized coaching, supporting your unique creative vision.

No prior experience is necessary – just your curiosity and a love for texture and color. Whether you are new to needle felting or looking to deepen your skills, this workshop offers a welcoming space to slow down, connect with inspiration, and create something truly special.

Instructor Bio

Sharon Chandler Correnty is a lifelong artist and educator with a passion for fiber and textile arts. As the founder of Marigold in Groton, MA, she specializes in repurposing and upcycling materials, transforming forgotten fabrics and artifacts into stunning, one-of-a-kind creations.

With a BFA in Art Education from UMass Dartmouth and a Master of Education from Fitchburg State University, Sharon brings over 40 years of teaching experience to her craft. Her background spans jewelry, weaving, and ceramics, with a graduate thesis focused on wool’s intersection with fiber art, science, and social studies.

Drawing inspiration from global travels, roadside discoveries, and her family’s tradition of creativity, Sharon is known for her meticulous use of deadstock fabric, natural dyes, and salvaged materials. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, and she has been featured in British Vogue (April 2023) and WCVB-TV’s Chronicle (December 2023).

Now a full-time creative maker, Sharon is excited to share her expertise, guiding students through the mindful and tactile process of single-needle felted tapestry.
