14 Wale Corduroy in PFD White
885164
Our 14 wale corduroy line from Robert Kaufman is a high quality bottom weight corduroy appropriate for sewing trousers and outerwear. This fabric is 100% Cotton with very little stretch, is 57" wide, and has a weight of 8.1 ounces per square yard.
Corduroy (French for cord of the King) is a sturdy yet supple high-quality fabric. The width of the cord in corduroy is the size of the wale, or the number of ridges per inch. Traditional corduroy is usually 10 to 12 wale; the higher the wale, the thinner the width of the wale.
This is a PFD (Prepared For Dye) white, which means it is white fabric that has not had the final finishes such as starch or other coatings that most fabrics get to keep them looking good on the shelves. Dyers can use this fabric without having to heavily scour it, although we would always suggest at least giving it a wash before dyeing it. And, if you just want white fabric for your project - this is the one for you!
Care instructions: Machine wash cold. Delicate cycle. No bleach. Wash dark colors separately. Tumble dry low. Remove promptly.
